Heidi's Question & Answer
- How did you first locate the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com website?
I learned about MyHomePersonalTrainer by reading about it in Good Housekeeping Magazine.
- What other weight loss or exercise programs have you tried in the past?
I worked out on my own, using exercises I learned in group classes or from magazine articles, along with a couple of structured classes, including water aerobics and cardio kickboxing.
- How would you compare those programs to the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com programs?
I like MHPT better because it works with my schedule and gives me something to be accountable to.
- How has the www.MyHomePersonalTrainer.com site worked for you?
It gives me a variety of exercises to try using the equipment I have available and gives me an accountability. I also like the eFitPoints, because it brings out my competitiveness. I feel like I'm competing against something, which motivates me on days when I'm a little lacking in motivation.
- Do you think the site is easy to use?
It's easy to use once you learn what it can do. Originally I had hoped for it to design me a workout program within my constraints, which I never figured out. Instead, I use it to find new exercises and keep track of my workouts, features at which it excels.
- Do you think www.MyHomePersonalTrainer.com provides the right tools for the support you need?
Yes, because it gives me different strength training exercises, which is where I get bored and need help.
- What website features do you like the most?
The exercise library and videos of how to do the exercises properly. The videos are more helpful than the still pictures, by the way.
- How are the workout routines that the site generates for you?
They're good'they work a variety of muscle groups with a diversity of exercises.
- Do you feel that they are well-planned and effective workout routines?
Yes, although I wish there were tips about how to increase resistance, for example, with bands, etc.
- What type of nutrition program are you currently following?
Nothing specific'just tend to watch what I eat, including lots of fruit and low-fat milk products for sufficient calcium (I have bone density issues).
- Has writing about your progress made losing weight easier and more effective for you?
I don't really use the site for weight loss'I find that if I monitor my weight on a routine basis, it affects my mood too significantly. If the scale is down, I'm up, etc. My weight is fairly stable at a number I'm happy with, so I prefer to monitor how my clothes fit. Writing about my workouts does motivate me to keep going, because I don't really enjoy exercising.
- Can you share with us your ultimate fitness and health goals?
I want to maintain a healthy weight while increasing lean muscle mass and bone density. I also want to maintain a healthy heart by significant aerobic exercise to prevent declines associated with aging.
- Would you recommend MyHomePersonalTrainer.com to a friend, family member or co-worker?
Yes, and have!

- How did you first locate the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com website?
In Feb 2007 I joined a new 24-Hour Fitness Center in my area. After a few years of abuse to my body after retiring from the military I knew something had to be done. Along with the physical side of the Fitness Center, I wanted to find something Online to track my diet. Boy was I surprised when I came across MyHomePersonalTrainer.com website. That offered everything I needed and more!!!!
- What other weight loss or exercise programs have you tried in the past?
In the past I have tried Body for Life, Atkins Diet, and the South Beach Diet.
- How would you compare those programs to the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com programs?
They don't compare. Body for Life was impractical and the other two diets showed little to no results. Besides, who can live on protein alone?
- How has the www.MyHomePersonalTrainer.com site worked for you?
This website has been a Godsend to me. I have had great success using it and would probably be worse off had I not found it.
- Do you think the site is easy to use?
It is incredibly simple to use. Set your goals, meet or exceed your exercise requirements, document your food, and don't go over the selected number of daily calories. Can't get any simpler than that.
- Do you think www.MyHomePersonalTrainer.com provides the right tools for the support you need?
Yes, it has as an abundant amount of tools to choose from to meet your needs for a healthy lifestyle. The greatest thing, if you have a question, you will get a response very quickly.
- What website features do you like the most?
The simplicity of documenting and counting the calories of what you have eaten is what I love most about the website. In addition, the many exercise plans are another excellent plus.
- How are the workout routines that the site generates for you?
I love the exercise routines that are available. You get them to perform the exercises you like to do most. I have never had this experience in the military. There, you did the exercise that you were told to do. Doing exercises that are most enjoyable to you will motivate you more.
- Do you feel that they are well-planned and effective workout routines?
They are very well-planned and thought out. Very professional!
- What type of nutrition program are you currently following?
Basically all I am doing is watching what I eat. My problem in the past was I ate and did not realize what I was eating. With the tools on the www.MyHomePersonalTrainer.com website, I document all my food and ensure I don't eat more calories than are allocated for the day. Using this tool, I try to limit the number of fats and carbohydrates that I consume.
- Has writing about your progress made losing weight easier and more effective for you?
Very much so. I don't know how individuals seriously consider losing weight without documenting it. The tools provided by MyHomePersonalTrainer.com make it very easy.
- Do you feel that it's easier to lose weight and keep it off when you're accountable to something?
Yes, it is easier keeping weight off if you incorporate journaling into your lifestyle. This is how I failed in the past.
- You're using the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com website for the second time. How did it work for you the first time around?
The first time around I had wonderful success! I retired from the military in December 2004. My second career consisted of sedentary work. Over the next two years I gained 50 ' 60 pounds. Before retiring I had major health problems, i.e., severe lower back pain, hypertension. I knew I needed to do something quick before my life was shortened; then I found MyHomePersonalTrainer.com. Over the next year, I lost 45 pounds. I could have lost more but did not keep the website in my life. Guess what - most of my ailments disappeared.
- What stopped you from continuing with your progress?
The biggest factor was work. I work incredibly long hours and most of the time I'm just not motivated to do anything when I come home. The season also had a lot to do with it. I stopped training and watching my diet in November of that year. Next thing you know, I was eating for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. Plus much food in between those times.
- Do you have any plans this time for overcoming your challenges this time?
No definite plans to overcome my challenges. I'm just motivated to get it done. I gained a lot of weight back and I was feeling the effects of being unfit. I do not like it!
- You've said you had already lost weight before in the past. Do you mind telling us how much you lost?
I lost approximately 45 pounds. I could have kept it off had I stayed with my fitness goals.
- Can you share with us your ultimate fitness and health goals?
My ultimate fitness and health goal is to get and keep my weight down and get off of this medication. I know I can be successful, as I already was using this website. I will pray and work hard to keep this a part of my lifestyle.
- Would you recommend MyHomePersonalTrainer.com to a friend, family member or co-worker?
Yes, I would recommend this site to everyone! In fact, I tell everyone who has commented about my appearance about this great tool.

- How did you first locate the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com website?
I was looking for an Online Website to help me develop different workouts and to keep track of my physical activity. I had worked with trainers before, but I needed more flexibility in my schedule. Now that I'm pregnant, it's been a perfect way for me to make sure I don't gain too much weight. The scheduled workouts also help me not to overdo it.
- What other weight loss or exercise programs have you tried in the past?
I have worked with a personal trainer using their diet plan, I have tried the Atkins' Diet, and I have worked out on my own, but that's it. I'm not a big dieter.
- How would you compare those programs to the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com programs?
I really like My Home Personal Trainer because of the flexibility. I was really sick for the first trimester, and flexibility was so important. With MyHomePersonalTrainer.com, I can choose to work out when and where I can, in the morning or evening, and I can tailor my workouts to how I feel. If a body part is sore, then I can change my workouts or take a rest day and not feel like I've lost out.
- How has the www.MyHomePersonalTrainer.com site worked for you?
It's worked really well. I've definitely dropped fat and gotten more toned muscle from my workouts, and I lost some weight. Now that I'm pregnant, I'm using the site to track my diet and make sure I stay fit.
- Do you think the site is easy to use?
I do think that the site is easy to use.

Yes. I've had a couple of questions, and have always been able to get an answer, either from the help menu or from emailing support.

I am eating a healthy balanced diet with about 1700-1900 calories per day.
- Has writing about your progress made losing weight easier and more effective for you?
Yes, writing has been helpful to keep me on track. I haven't written as much since I got pregnant, but writing has kept me honest in the past.
- Do you feel that it's easier to lose weight and keep it off when you're accountable to something?
Yes, I feel that being accountable is helpful when you are working out on your own. It also gives you an outlet for your experience, which can be helpful.
- Can you share with us your ultimate fitness and health goals?
Right now it's to have a healthy baby and to use MyHomePersonalTrainer.com to get back in shape as soon as I can afterwards.
- Would you recommend MyHomePersonalTrainer.com to a friend, family member or co-worker?
Yes, I believe it's a great website for anyone to use. I have recommended it to many people as a great way to get and stay in shape for little money. With all of the workout choices available on the website, you don't even need a gym membership or special equipment. I workout mostly with a couple of hand weights and bands.
- If there is anything that we may have missed or that you would like to add as a personal comment, please do not hesitate to add it here.
I have really enjoyed working out using the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com website and I feel it is a great way to get in shape with whatever resources you have available. I used the site to get in shape before I got pregnant and now I'm using the website to maintain some fitness. And after I have the baby, I will use the website to get back in shape. Thanks for a great product!

- How did you first locate the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com website?
I got tired of keeping track of my fitness progress in a outdated Excel spreadsheet. A websearch turned out MyHomePersonalTrainer.com,
- What other weight loss or exercise programs have you tried in the past?
No particular weight loss program. I am used to exercising on my own, I just needed a sort of IT support. And in terms of support MPHT is invaluable. I can for example figure things that can share with my doctor and allow her to adjust my medications.
- How would you compare those programs to the MyHomePersonalTrainer.com programs?
MHPT just happened to be the easiest of them all. And it's the only time I managed to get my now 16-year old to adopt and actually stay with for now 18 months+
- How has the www.MyHomePersonalTrainer.com site worked for you?
The site provides accountability. And that's really what one needs for motivation and direction.
- How did your family get involved with MyHomePersonalTrainer.com? How has the site worked for your family?
My daughter uses the site as well, and seeing her lose 8 to 10 lbs in a matter of 2 month is just priceless. Even more important, she can see and track the ups and downs of her nutrition and exercise and see where a correction is needed.
The best example is about how the site helped me keep track of my blood pressure AND food intake over 63-day period. I shared that info with my doctor, and it resulted in my being taken off blood pressure pills.
Turned out my BP just spiked every time I went to see my doctor (23 points higher on average).
And I also know now that I need more diversified source of protein.
- Do you think the site is easy to use?
Yes it is, and that's one of its strengths.
- Do you think www.MyHomePersonalTrainer.com provides the right tools for the support you need?
Absolutely.
- What website features do you like the most?
The nutrition section (menus, meals and calories distribution info). I also like the exercise section on the calendar.
- Do you feel that they are well-planned and effective workout routines?
For a self-directed member, yes. A person with less gym experience may find it tough and overwhelming at first.
- What type of nutrition program are you currently following?
It would be nice if the menu info is updated more often. For instance the calories and fat composition info on the Wendy's and Arby's menus is not consistent with these two outlets have on their shops and in their website.
It would be fantastic to also add some typical Canadian outlets, such as Tim Horton's (now in the US as well).
- Has writing about your progress made losing weight easier and more effective for you?
Indeed. It made it much easier, and when mid-course corrections where needed, it was always based on sound effective information.
- Do you feel that it's easier to lose weight and keep it off when you're accountable to something?
ABSOULTELY
- Can you share with us your ultimate fitness and health goals?
I have already reached my weight loss goal for the summer. The plan is to stay there. And get better muscle definition. I got to this point by watching how much I ate. Now I am gearing up to retool and revamp my eating habits by paying attention to what I ate.
- Would you recommend MyHomePersonalTrainer.com to a friend, family member or co-worker?
I already do it all the time, and will keep doing so.
